Pegah Ahangarani is an award-winning Iranian filmmaker and actress. She was born in Tehran in 1984 and has been living in exile in London since 2024. Her work has been featured in the prestigious magazine The New Yorker. “Rehearsals for a Revolution” is her first feature film. Through five portraits of family members and mentors – five different forms of resistance – the director traces the intimate story of her life and, at the same time, that of her country. Drawing on personal archives, home videos, footage of street protests, newspaper reports, and oral testimonies, she reconstructs more than four decades of Iranian history. From the early days of 1979 to the war that began in 2026, Ahangarani pieces together a memory that is both personal and collective, shaping a portrait of a country marked by political repression and by the enduring hope of a revolution that never quite arrives.
